Does Insurance Cover My Eye Care?

In our modern era, very few medical or vision care services are “covered” or paid in full by vision and health plans.  With most services a copay, a patient portion or a deductible may apply.

A Word About Insurance

Insurance plans provide important benefits for many patients.  While we don’t work for your insurance company, we will do our very best to help you get the most out of your benefits.

We cannot guarantee that your services are covered.

Knowing your plan benefits is your responsibility.

You are responsible to pay your portion of charges as specified in your agreement with your insurance company and for any unpaid balances.

Please understand that the fees we charge and the treatment we recommend are based on your individual needs and are never based on your insurance coverage.

Two Types of Insurance

In an optometry office, vision plans and medical plans serve different purposes and are billed accordingly.

Vision plans cover routine eye care, such as comprehensive eye exams, prescription glasses, and contact lenses.

In contrast, medical plans address eye health issues and conditions, such as infections, injuries, dry eye, glaucoma, or cataracts. When a patient visits for an eye-related medical concern, the billing is processed through their medical insurance rather than a vision plan.

Understanding the distinction ensures accurate billing and helps patients maximize their insurance benefits.

Do You Accept Medicaid?

If you have Medicaid, please carefully check which company adminsiters your plan.

We are providers for Traditional and Molina Medicaid.  We accept some Medicaid plans administerd by  VSP.

We are NOT providers for Healthy U Medicaid.
