What Is Myopia?

MYOPIA = NEARSIGHTEDNESS

Myopia is the most common vision problem among children, teens, and young adults.

Now considered a major health concern, myopia (nearsightedness) has increased by 66% in the United States since 1971.

Myopia occurs when the eye grows too long and light focuses in front of the retina, leading to blurry distance vision.

When myopia starts during childhood, it often progresses rapidly.  Thankfully, early intervtion with NEW treatments such as MiSight 1-Day can be effective for managing myopia

Why is Myopia Bad?

TAKE CHILDHOOD MYOPIA SERIOUSLY

Nearsightedness is reaching epidemic levels in most populations.

The increase in the incidence and severity of myopia is a significant concern for kids.

We want to react appropriately, and yet not over react.  Myopia is manageable.

High levels of myopia in childhood and adolescence can carry increased risks for other eye diseases later in life, such as glaucoma, detached retinas, and myopic macular degeneration.
